Foreword from Dr. Valentin Fuster

As the Editor-in-Chief of JACC, I am very pleased to present you the Portuguese edition of JACC. Portuguese speaking cardiologists and internists will find here articles of great clinical interest that have been selected by the members of the Editorial Board chaired by Dr. Edimar Bocchi, among all the papers published in the English version of JACC in recent months.

I would like to highlight that each article comes with an accompanying editorial comment by a well-known Portuguese-speaking cardiologist, expert in the field. This will help to understand its clinical value.

I hope that the Portuguese version of JACC we are now presenting will be useful for the readers and will help to improve diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Bocchi for accepting my invitation to be the Editor-in-Chief of the Portuguese version of JACC. I am convinced that, as always, his work will be of the highest quality.

Foreword from Dr. Bocchi

Access to scientific information is fundamental to the ongoing improvement of clinical practice and to the development of research seeking a better medical assistance to patients. JACC stands out for being, among other qualities, the magazine with the greatest impact in cardiology, besides being a journal that seeks to promote the progress of clinical practice and science, especially in the area of cardiology. Internationalization and the sharing of scientific knowledge are fundamental to the universalization of the development of science and medical practice. The launch of a Portuguese edition of JACC, headed by Dr. Valentin Fuster, may represent a great step forward for science and clinical practice in Portuguese-speaking countries, with a view to increasing access to this journal, as well as the internationalization and sharing of knowledge. The Portuguese-speaking countries, although heterogeneous, will benefit greatly from a medical point of view from the opportunity to access the best articles in the JACC, relevant to this region.

The Editorial Board of JACC, which comes from the best scientific community in cardiology in Portuguese, identifies itself with this initiative, which should result in numerous scientific and social gains for Portuguese-speaking countries. It will be responsible for selecting and commenting the most relevant articles in JACC for the Portuguese-speaking medical community. Therefore, on behalf of the Editorial Board of the Journal of American College of Cardiology, Portuguese edition, we go on to share with all physicians from Portuguese-speaking countries, whether practicing or in training, the possibility of accessing Portuguese editions. As editor, and working in collaboration with members of Elsevier Publishing, I have the great honor in participating in the viability of this project.

This edition of the Journal of American College of Cardiology in Portuguese will represent a great advance for science in Portuguese-speaking countries.
